The Ordeal That Inspires: My Mission For Unjustly Hurt Women

By Cynthia Gagné

Life presents moments when we are called to achieve something greater than ourselves. For some, this pursuit takes the form of a personal mission, a deep calling to contribute to societal well-being using our unique talents. In this article, I aim to share my personal journey, from turmoil to the discovery of my mission, shedding light on my commitment to women who have been unfairly harmed by a little-known medical procedure.

The Birth of a Mission

A few years ago, my life was disrupted by a painful ordeal – the suffering caused by the implantation of a urinary incontinence sling. This challenging experience triggered a profound transformation within me, leading me to explore the concept of a personal mission. I came to understand that each individual possesses a unique potential that, once discovered and utilized, can bring deep meaning to life. My own life mission emerged from this pain, and I became determined to transform this experience into something positive and impactful.

The Essence of Mission

What is a mission, if not an inner calling to contribute to the common good using our talents and skills? A mission goes beyond the individual, simultaneously serving our personal growth and societal progress. It is a personal work that no one else can accomplish in our place. Through my own journey, I realized that my mission was to raise awareness, provide support, information, and assistance to women who, like me, have suffered the consequences of unfortunate medical interventions.

The Ameshée Experience

Having endured the pain caused by the implantation of a urinary incontinence sling, I chose not to remain a silent victim. My experience inspired me to take matters into my own hands, to fight for a cause that truly matters. For nearly three years, I have championed this cause with passion and determination. I delved into in-depth research to understand the implications of this procedure, discovering that thousands of women around the world share my tragedy. This realization led me to establish a support group that now embraces over 1300 injured women.

From Suffering to Commitment

On March 21, 2019, I sounded the alarm through a poignant report broadcast on the dangers of these strips on Radio-Canada’s program Enquête https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyj2-zE2_7o&t=3s. Since then, testimonials from injured women have poured in every day, confirming the scale of the problem. My commitment is clear: to help, support and inform these women about the best solutions available to them. I devote my whole being to this mission, to make their voices heard and to provide a space for exchange and understanding.

Conclusion

My personal pain led me to discover my life mission: aiding injured women in overcoming the devastating consequences of medical interventions. Each ordeal can be an opportunity for positive change, and every individual possesses immeasurable potential to contribute to collective well-being. My journey, from suffering to commitment, testifies to the power of a personal mission and the significance of fighting for a cause that transcends obstacles.
